Moving From Private Equity to Franchise Ownership

2026-10-13

Sachin Bettadapur’s Story

Sachin Bettadapur spent the beginning of his career evaluating businesses. Eventually, he decided he wanted to build one. After working in investment banking and private equity, he began searching for businesses to acquire in the residential and commercial services space. He initially focused on independent companies and was skeptical that franchising would give him the flexibility he wanted. His perspective changed as he learned more about the industry.

“In the right system, with the right brand that has been around for a long time, who provides support to its franchisees, and has a true reason for existing and growing like ServiceMaster does, it's great for a first-time operator.” - Sachin Bettadapur

For Sachin, the franchise vs. independent business decision came down to the resources available within the right system. In December 2025, he acquired ServiceMaster Restore® locations in Fletcher, North Carolina, and Spartanburg, South Carolina. His longer-term goal is to build a regional platform across the Southeast.

ServiceMaster Restore® offered the scale and support he was looking for, along with room to grow. He specifically pointed to brand recognition, lead generation, support from the corporate team, and relationships with other owners as benefits of joining the network. Those franchise support services gave him a foundation for moving from investor to operator without giving up his ambition to build at scale.
